Dr. Melgar has worked with fruit tree species under different climates for the last 15 years, including semiarid climates in the Mediterranean Basin (Spain and Italy) and subtropical humid climate in Florida, Texas and South Carolina. His research program is a combination of basic and applied research, in this case almost always driven by real problems that fruit tree growers have. He is also committed to inspire students and stimulate their interest and critical thinking.  His favorite fruits include persimmons, cherimoyas, and peaches.

Laura is currently studying plant and environmental sciences at clemson university and focuses her work on peach bronzing and nutrient flow. Her favorite fruit is a Rambutan.
