Small Fruits and Citrus

In addition to peaches, the Melgar team spends time researching citrus and several small fruits including blackberry (Rubus spp.) and blueberry (Vaccinium spp.). Several current projects include:

1. Understand any physiological mechanisms behind white drupelet disorder on blackberry
2. Improve nutrient cycling of blueberry plants after adding biochar to orchard soils
3. Explore niche markets of citrus production along the South Carolina coast
